PART COURSE, ONLINE

COURSE HOURS: 150 HOURS ONLINE, 50 HOURS IN PERSON (2-PART COURSE)

We are excited to introduce a new offering in our 200-hour teacher training course – a flexible online option covering 150 hours. Designed in two parts, this approach aims to enhance accessibility and convenience for students aspiring to join our esteemed teaching team in India.

Annually, senior teachers from Rishikesh unite to deliver comprehensive training in Yoga and Ayurveda philosophy, therapeutic aspects of Yoga, asana alignment. Kanga Yoga draws inspiration from the teachings of Swami Sivananda, Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar and Sri Krishna Pattabhi Jois. Philosophy emphasises adapting yoga to the individual, making it a personalised journey rather than fitting the individual to rigid yoga practices.

Students enroll in this course with diverse objectives – some to become yoga teachers, while others seek a profound understanding of Yoga & Ayurveda, cultivating a self-practice. The introduction of online teaching has bridged the gap, allowing students to learn directly from our experienced teachers in India, right from the comfort of their home countries.

Opting for the 150-hour online course is a standalone option, and students can later enroll in the 50-hour in-person course to complete the full 200-hour training. The online component, led by our experienced course teachers, covers all subjects, including comprehensive asana classes. However, adjustments and teaching methodology part 2 involve practical aspects, where students are observed teaching and adjusting asanas. The 50 hours in-person, guided by Emma Bonnici and an assistant Kanga Yoga teacher, focus on teaching methodology, asana adjustments, paired teaching, and class planning. To ensure personalized attention and quality interaction, we limit the in-person space to 10 students.

Join us in this transformative journey, balancing tradition with modern accessibility, to deepen your understanding of yoga and craft your unique teaching style.

ATTENDANCE

Adherence to the attendance policy is paramount for success in our Teacher Training Course, comprising 150 hours online and 50 hours in person. Certification requires consistent and punctual attendance, with students expected to be in the classroom (including Zoom) at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start. In case of an anticipated absence, students are encouraged to communicate with the course leader beforehand. If a class is missed, students must make up for it by viewing the recording in the presence of a teacher or engaging in a karma yoga activity. This commitment ensures not only personal growth but also contributes to the collective energy of the class, fostering a rich learning environment.

CLOTHING

During this course, it is recommended to wear comfortable clothing suitable for the asanas, as the focus is on asana alignment. Your clothing should allow for the visibility of asana alignment during practice and demonstrations, so very loose attire like harem pants is not suitable for class. Modesty is important in the asana classes, and while tank tops and shorts are acceptable, they should not be revealing. If you have any uncertainties about appropriate attire, feel free to consult your course leader for guidance.

EQUIPMENT

To participate in the online course hours, you will need 1 yoga mat, 2 yoga blocks, and 2 yoga belts. If you prefer to rent or purchase this equipment from Kanga Studio, please request it through the course leader. For in-person hours, the necessary equipment will be provided. Additionally, it’s advisable to have something warm, such as a blanket, hat, jumper, or eye pillow, for śavāsana and yoga nidra. Key PDF reference books will be supplied to support your learning journey.

INTERNET

A reliable internet connection is essential for participating in the online Zoom classes. In case of disconnection, the host will ensure your reentry. Teachers will have backup hotspots and mifi units to address potential internet server issues. As technology is integral to the live online sessions, we appreciate your patience. If a class is interrupted, arrangements will be made for you to view the recording at your convenience.
