Daisy Wairimu Githinji

Yoga Teacher

The pandemic-related travel bans of 2020 gave Daisy a chance to pause her hectic work and travel schedule. Though she had practiced yoga lightly for many years, in 2020 she started to practice daily, guided by Fightmaster Yoga videos and some in-person classes. She experienced profound physical, mental, and emotional improvements from this dedicated practice, which inspired her to go deeper.

The universe brought her to Kanga Yoga Studio in Nairobi, and in February 2023 Daisy completed the 200-h Kanga Yoga teacher training. Daisy feels blessed to have received the gift of authentic yoga through wonderful and generous teachers — in particular Emma Bonnici, the Kanga YTT instructors in India, and the late Leslie Fightmaster.

The Sage Patañjali terms yoga “the stilling of the changing states of the mind.” And Kanga yoga, with energetic flows, pranayama, music, meditation, spiritual devotion, and Ayurveda guides us towards the inner joy and peace that comes from stillness. Daisy believes that following the path of yoga can heal us and make our lives whole, by connecting us to the universal, infinite source of light and love. Daisy also loves that the astonishing benefits of yoga –such as physical energy, mental clarity, and inner beauty– are available to anyone who can dedicate to their practice.

To teach Kanga Yoga is a dream-come-true for Daisy, and she’s keen to support others on their yoga journey. She plans to visit Rishikesh in 2024, to further develop her yoga practice and teaching skills.
